Postdoctoral Scholar (Stress, Emotion, Behavior, and Health)

The Pennsylvania State University's Department of Biobehavioral Health (hhd.psu.edu/bbh) and the Center for Healthy Aging (http://healthyaging.psu.edu/) invites applications for Postdoctoral Scholar appointments (up to three positions are available) to work with a team of interdisciplinary investigators on one or more NIH-funded study(ies) of everyday stress processes, including a smartphone delivered 'just-in-time' intervention for everyday stress and health behaviors in adulthood. This is an opportunity for an emerging scholar to engage with a productive team of investigators who use intensive longitudinal methods (e.g., ecological momentary assessment) to characterize and intervene upon intra-individual stress-related health processes. Responsibilities will be tailored to individual skills and interests, but will include project-specific tasks; data collection and/or management; data analyses; preparation of manuscripts and conference presentations; contributing to grant preparation; and participation in interdisciplinary research groups. The scholar(s) will have extensive opportunities to publish (e.g., from other existing data sets), access to exceptional resources to facilitate their independent research and professional development, and will be part of a dynamic group of interdisciplinary scholars. Qualified individuals will have earned a Ph.D. in the social, behavioral, or health sciences and have demonstrated research excellence and productivity. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise and experience in relevant research domains (stress, emotion, health, sleep, physical activity, etc.), strong statistical skills (especially multi-level modeling and within-person approaches), ambulatory data capture (EMA/ESM, physiological monitoring, mHealth, etc.), and/or intervention studies. The initial appointment will be for one year; funding is available for yearly reappointment contingent upon satisfactory performance. The positions provide salary and benefits consistent with those for NIH postdoctoral fellows. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
