Assistant Research Professor

Description The Laboratory of Dr. B. Franklin Pugh, Willaman Professor of Molecular Biology and Evan Pugh University Professor, is seeking an Assistant Research Professor to conduct team-oriented production-level research. The Pugh lab conducts state-of-the-art research in molecular biology and computational biology, with emphasis in eukaryotic gene regulation, transcription, epigenetics, epigenomics, tumor diagnostics, and high-throughput computer-aided analytic workflows. This long-term position has the following responsibilities: Day-to-day coordination of a team of research computer scientists that include postdocs, graduate students, technicians, and undergraduates; Providing intellectual leadership in experimental design, execution, and interpretation of results; Writing research grants and publications; Quality assurance of scientific rigor, consistency, and record keeping. This person will be responsible for consultation and quality assurance of the NGS data, troubleshooting and implementing new technologies and software, and will participate in collaborative interactions with researchers and vendors to provide consistent delivery of high quality, and timely, cost effective services. This position is expected to assist all aspects of the core bioinformatics services, as well as the scholarly activities including research and education. Candidates must understand biochemistry, molecular biology, and genomic principles at an advanced teaching level, have an advanced degree (PhD or equivalent), at least three years of postdoctoral experience as a bioinformaticist or computational scientist, and a track record of publications in major journals covering molecular biology and genomics. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
