Postdoctoral Scholar

Description Penn State's Earth and Environmental Systems Institute (EESI) has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Scholar to work on a field and modelling project investigating the use of seismic monitoring and time-lapse electrical resistivity in the critical zone observatory (czo) in central Pennsylvania. The optimal candidate will bring expertise in field measurements and modelling of seismic and ERT data; be interested in working in a cross-disciplinary team that includes expertise in soils, geochemistry, geophysics, and microbiology; have the ability to drive field vehicles to the CZO; and be a strong writer and independent thinker. The postdoc will be co-supervised by Professors Susan Brantley, Andrew Nyblade and John Regan. Candidates should include a letter of interest, a CV, and contact information for three references with their applications. This position requires a Ph.D. in a related field or discipline. This position requires operation of university vehicles. A motor vehicle records check is required in addition to the standard background check. This appointment is for one year from date of hire with possibility of re-appointment for an additional year. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
