The Fluids Research Department, part of the Fluid Dynamics Division in the Fluid Dynamics and Acoustics Office (FDAO) of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State is seeking a mid-level Hydrodynamic Engineer. In this position, you will conduct basic and applied research in fluid mechanics, utilizing advanced instrumentation to investigate a wide range of areas of hydrodynamics interest, including complex single and multi-phase flows, cavitating flows, marine vehicles, turbomachinery, and renewable energy production. Responsibilities include: Prepare and execute hydrodynamic testing at ARL and other government testing facilities; design test articles; write, develop, and submit proposals for funded research; cultivate positive relationships with existing and potential government and industry sponsors; collaborate with other research and academic faculty; and document research activities in technical reports. This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline (Master's degree preferred) or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a discipline with fluid dynamics emphasis (Physics, Engineering Science, etc.) is desired. The following is preferred: Knowledge of unsteady fluid dynamics; experience with testing in hydrodynamics facilities; knowledge of cavitation and multi-phase flows; experience with advanced flow diagnostics techniques (high speed imaging, volumetric particle image velocimetry, laser Doppler velocimetry); and familiarity with solid modeling/CAD systems, MATLAB, or Simulink. Knowledge of fluid mechanics is required. Good written and verbal communication skills, along with good presentation skills are required to be successful in this position. You must be able to work effectively as part of a project team. Some off-site travel and extended off-site work will be required. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation. You must be a U.S. citizen to apply. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. This is a one-year, fixed-term renewable appointment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
