The John and Willie Leone Family Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering (http://www.eme.psu.edu) at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for up to two tenure-track assistant professor positions in the field of environmental systems engineering. The Department is vibrant and growing with 35 faculty members, approximately 125 graduate students, over 1500 undergraduate students, and externally funded research expenditures of $6 M per year. The Department is home to ABET accredited undergraduate engineering programs in Energy Engineering, Environmental Systems Engineering, Mining Engineering, and Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, along with other undergraduate programs in Energy Business and Finance, and Energy and Sustainability Policy. At the graduate level, the department offers MS and PhD degrees in Energy and Mineral Engineering with various options. The Environmental Systems Engineering program supports the mission of the department in educating students to address the delicate balance between societal needs for energy and mineral resources and the management, health and safety, and environmental impacts associated with the production, processing and utilization of these resources in a sustainable and responsible way. The successful candidate will contribute to the educational and research mission of the environmental systems engineering program (http://www.eme.psu.edu/envse). The candidate's research should complement the overarching goal of environmental sustainability in energy and mineral production and utilization, and be consistent with the research themes of the Penn State Institutes of Energy and the Environment (IEE) (http://www.iee.psu.edu/research). Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in an environmental related engineering discipline. Industrial experience and professional registration are preferable. Experience in teaching engineering lecture and laboratory courses is desirable. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication/presentation skills with the ability and willingness to establish a strong externally funded research program, conduct independent high-quality research, publish in leading scholarly journals, and eventually take a leadership role in the program. The candidate will be expected to develop and teach graduate and undergraduate courses in environmental systems engineering. This includes topics such as surface and interfacial phenomena with applications to particle processing, CO2 science and engineering, transport and environmental systems, the development of multimedia pollution control strategies for the mineral, metallurgical processing, and petroleum industries, and other related topics. The successful candidate would also assist with related administrative activities such as data collection for ABET accreditation purposes. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
