Penn State Conferences and Institutes seeks a conference intern to help coordinate logistical planning of summer non-credit programs. The Conference Intern, with supervision of a program manager, will work with faculty to help design, develop, market, and deliver educational programs to a variety of audiences including adults and youth. The Intern may also assist conference planners for large or complex programs. In addition, the Intern will cover some aspects of certain conferences such as registrations, poster sessions, exhibits, receptions, and dinners. The Conference Intern will work closely with the entire Conferences and Institutes team to ensure compliance with all University policies. A successful candidate for this position should be knowledgeable about event or program management. A history of successful execution of a small to medium size events would be beneficial. The ability to communicate clearly and the ability to quickly identify solutions to problems are critical to success. Flexibility and teamwork are valued. Preference will be given to a junior or senior, but experienced sophomores will be considered. The Intern must be pursuing a degree in an event management or related major. Work experience field is preferred. This position may begin in May with limited hours per week and increase to 20 hours per week through the second week of August. Additional hours may be required during conference delivery. Some weekend and evening work is required during programs. Requests for time off during program delivery will not be approved. This is a paid internship paid at the minimum wage rate.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
