JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences at the Penn State University, seeks dynamic candidates for the position of Director of Information Technology. Reporting to the Managing Director of the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences, the Director of Information Technology provides strategic leadership and vision for research IT services that support institute customers and objectives. This position is responsible for the oversight and management of existing IT services along with the development of new services based on developing needs and new technologies by leveraging them to support the institute's strategic vision particularly as they relate to the strategic plans for the University. Huck's core mission is to catalyze interdisciplinary research excellence across Penn State to seek transformative solutions to critical societal challenges and to generate new understandings of ourselves and our world. Information technology is an integral and critical component of ensuring the institute can achieve this mission and accomplish the established strategic goals including improving core instrumentation, providing access to tools and technologies that assist in the management, and facilitating workshops and conferences, as well as analysis and dissemination of diverse datasets and maximizing operational efficiencies. Possessing a high level of business acumen and strong communication skills, this position advocates for and manages a complex set of resources that support IT operations while also working collaboratively to provide researchers with innovative and seamless support as they move through their teaching and research responsibilities. This position also collaborates with leadership and other directors to ensure that the services provided across the organization leverage available technical infrastructure, support, and consulting services. Responsibilities Include:
Strategic Planning and Leadership Conduct a landscape analysis, identify gaps and stay informed of technological trends and advancements to support and update strategic goals and operations Influence changes and system enhancements to business processes, policies, and infrastructure to deliver the most effective IT services Provide strategic leadership to the research technology space, advising senior management and managing activities using standard service management practices ensuring service delivery, continuity and quality Identify, develop and report on the overall departmental strategies and budget resource including how they align with the Institute and University's strategic plan Manage a comprehensive technology roadmap achieving divisional goals and ROI Display strong analytical ability, business acumen, judgment, and problem-solving skills Communicate with, understand the needs of, build trust, and buy in with various stakeholders across the organization, including external vendors Develop and maintain professional relationships with campus leadership, department chairs, school/college deans, and faculty at all ranks as well as other directors and managers in academic partner units Make decisions regarding resource alignment/dedication and prioritization (people resources, dollars/funding, project criticality) and communicates rationale back to the business Service Management and Operations Manage IT related services at a research institution utilizing standard service engagement techniques and practices Interface with vendors for procurement and maintenance of all IT infrastructures and serve as point of contact for other campus computing professionals Understand the academic culture of a research-intensive university and the relationship between central services and research services within different units and facilities Build collaborative partnerships to improve, enhance or launch new services and support across an institution Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored, and accessed by the network and computing devices Develop application and database architecture and design and validate data acquisition and output media/formats. Management and Team Development Establish training and development goals and objectives through directing and developing staff members Successfully advocate for diversity and the values of inclusion. Incorporate the differences, complexities, and opportunities that diversity brings to an organization and ability to work with a dynamic diverse group of faculty, staff and students Define individual performance objectives and development plans and ensure alignment with project and department objectives Advance research through IT innovation by leveraging IT staff skills and expertise Effectively monitor overall performance of team and conduct required performance and evaluations as needed This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus 4 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The individual in this position will supervise, evaluate, develop, and train assigned staff. A strong commitment to customer service, substantial technical aptitude, excellent problem-solving analysis and critical thinking skills, quality verbal and written communication and presentation skills, the ability to learn new things quickly and independently, and high performance in a team environment and a proven ability to work successfully in a diverse work environment are required. An awareness of emerging trends in IT is also strongly desired. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the incumbent will serve as Huck's senior IT leader and will liaison between the technology function and senior leadership within the unit. This position will coordinate with University IT when necessary to ensure consistency of processes and policies. Salary Range:
$150K -- $200K
Minimum Qualification

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
